Paul Myrick is a Charlotte, North Carolina artist who grew up and resided most of this life in the Deep South. Inheriting an innate artistic ability from his mother, southern rural artist Peggy Myrick Knight, Paul is naturally creative and expressive in several art forms including photography, watercolor and graphic design. Although Paul is a self-taught artist, his mentor was Atlanta-based photographer Robin Davis, who teaches bi-annually at the Cortona Center of Photography in Italy. An earlier career working in information technology provides Paul with a technical background that fits perfectly with today’s digital art mediums.
About The Parodies
The Parodies is a collection of watercolor paintings by Paul which have been inspired by public figures, celebrities, news events, history, culture, interaction with people or even stories told by friends. Whatever may spark the imagination might become one of “The Parodies”.
The original artwork has been produced with watercolor (or acrylic) paint on paper or with an iPad and stylus using the Paper by 53 app. In some cases, the artwork has been digitally enhanced using color overlays. Multiple original pieces of artwork may also be digitally combined to create collages presented as single works. Although some digital enhancement or manipulation may be used to create certain effects or arrangements, all artwork has been freehand drawn and colored by Paul.
Prints and products featuring The Parodies are available on Zazzle.com.
